Nifty shades of gray

Minimalist design might appear simple, but it is really one of the most difficult styles to honor when it's time for manufacturing: a single detail can make or break the transition from concept to finished product.

The Dark HAL d20.01 was no exception, and several samples had to be made to find the optimal proportion of clear resin and the best pigment to make it look... just right

Due to time constraints, it wasn't possible to ship here each sample for examination, and all work has been done remotely, through color palettes and reference pictures. The factory was very responsive and provided each iteration very quickly, but of course the whole process took more time than expected. True to its role, the Dark HAL d20.01 behaved badly from the start, but at least it took less than 20 tries to put it in its place.

The good thing is the factory was available to work on this project while we had our holidays, but now the Chinese New Year celebrations are approaching, and there is a chance that the mass production might not be finished in time before that.

This means that instead of just a couple of weeks, the backers who have also ordered this item might have to wait about a month on top of the scheduled delivery time to receive their reward (the New Year's holidays in China are quite long). The factory has already started the manufacturing process, and while it's possible they won't be able to complete it, they are committed to do all they can to avoid further delays.

All surveys have been sent, and a first batch of envelopes will be mailed next week - starting from those including no add-ons at all, then followed by those with no Dark HAL d20.01.

If you are one of the last 50 backers who shall still complete their survey, please do so as soon as possible for your shipment to be included in the above early batches!

The pledge manager will open to the general public around the end of the next week.

560 times Thank You

In just one week the vast majority of backers have completed and submitted their surveys!
In order to prepare all the selected add-ons to be shipped with your Kickstarter rewards, later today these surveys will be locked: If you want to take another look at the limited items still available in the pledge manager, or If you need to review your information or pledge status, please do it now.

You can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://adiceodyssey.backerkit.com/.

The above procedure works also if you didn't receive your survey at all, or if you can't find the original e-mail you have received last week. If you are one of the backers who haven’t answered their surveys yet, please do it as soon as possible (even if you don't plan to add-on anything, we still need an address where to send your Kickstarter reward). If you fill out your BackerKit survey after January 6th your shipment may be delayed.

After the surveys are locked, you will not be able to add-on other items and your cards will be charged for the add-on item you purchased. You will still allowed to update your shipping address up until we also lock addresses for shipping.

Thanks for your collaboration, and...

Have a happy New Year!

Survey time!
over 5 years ago – Sat, Dec 22, 2018 at 12:44:33 AM

The pledge manager is ready, and a few lucky backers (5% for each reward) will receive an invitation to test it today. Please look for an e-mail from BackerKit, as it will include a special link through which you will be able to provide your address, and order add-ons. If you didn't receive it today, your turn will come tomorrow :)

It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since this information is necessary to fulfill your rewards, and because you might miss items available in very low quantities such as the dice trays - in three different versions!

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like.

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts on December 29th. If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://adiceodyssey.backerkit.com

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account.

Important note

The shipping fees paid on Kickstarter will appear as available credit while you fill your survey, as they will be recalculated again at checkout according to the total weight and shipping destination for your reward.

If you order add-ons, your credit card will be charged again around the end of the month.
Or at the beginning of the new year :)

Have a great holiday time!

On to Infinity

A turned off HAL d20.01
A turned off HAL d20.01

The journey is over, and you have won HAL.
Its eye is gray now and his mind blank.
Or just pure evil?

Only one hour is left until the end of the campaign, and it's safe to say it's been a success! All the Stretch Goals have been reached, including the Grand Finale.
But there is one more surprise for you.

It seems from the survey that all remaining HAL d20.01 should find a home through the pledge manager, so an order was placed today for a new and fascinating dark version.

A run of 1000 should arrive around the end of January, so you might have to wait a couple more weeks to get your reward if you wish to add one or more Dark HAL d20.01 through the pledge manager. Any other add-on will not delay your parcel much (the basic rewards are being pre-packaged).

Thank you all for your amazing support to this project!

Grand Finale
over 5 years ago – Thu, Dec 13, 2018 at 09:38:29 PM

Data from the survey, answered by 250 backers of 550 who received it, shows that the demand is well distributed among the different set versions, and no particular set is at risk of overbooking. To summarize:

40% wants nothing more
20% wants no full sets (but other add-ons)
18% wants one full set
14% wants full trilogies! (one or more)
8% wants two full sets

It's surprising to note that one in four backers getting add-ons would like to get one or more full trilogies, and anyone willing to get two sets of the same kind is also looking after one trilogy! For this reason in the pledge manager you will find 150 trilogies and 75 full sets of each kind, and each one of you will be able to get up to 2 full sets of the same kind, and up to 3 trilogies

Such limits should allow all of you to get what you are looking for, while saving some more trilogies and single full sets for late backers and for the online store at full price. These will also work as a cushion if any full set in the pledge manager is sold-out.

The campaign is not accepting more backers, and no more slots are going to be opened (other than those already announced) in order to keep the fullfilment manageable and to avoid having to extimate the availability of sets once again.

One Special Last Stretch Goal

It's quite possible that this campaign might reach 700% of its goal, surpassing in just one week the first Constellation Dice Voyager Edition Kickstarter launched two years ago (which was five weeks long).

To celebrate this - only if the funding is more than €24500 - you will all be gifted an euro amount of pledge manager credit equal to the number of full sets in your reward!

Collector's bundles will be considered as made of 5 full sets, and a few slots for these rewards might be opened before the end of the campaign to help us reach this last Stretch Goal ;)
