Latest Updates from Our Project:

Adding a most wanted new full set to the rewards, Kickstarter delayed 24 hours for updates!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Dec 09, 2022 at 04:39:11 AM

We have received confirmation today that the same factory that made the Dice Odyssey sets (Sky's Edge, Purple Nebula, Outer Space) has a slot avalaible early next year for manufacturing a Blue Nebula version of this popular design, long sold out!

Since the Discovery full set has no standard numbers, this is a most welcome addition to the upcoming Kickstarter. Of course we had the cover ready (just in case) but now we still need to update the page.

Sorry for keeping you waiting!

If you would like to check the campaign page as soon as it's ready, please subscribe to the newsletter at www.giolasar.com to receive a link before launch. Hope to see you tomorrow at this time on Kickstarter!

Constellation dice: Discovery starts in 24 hours
over 1 year ago – Wed, Dec 07, 2022 at 06:18:16 PM

This is a special moment in Space History.

On December 11th, 1972 the last Apollo crew set foot on the Moon.

Exactly 50 years later, this coming Sunday, a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean will mark the completion of the first Artemis mission (named after the goddess sister to Apollo in Greek mythology) which will soon bring four astronauts, including a woman, to the Moon again.

In a few weeks, it will be also the first anniversary since the launch of the James Webb space telescope, which in just one year provided us with incredible images of great scientific - and for us stargazers, emotional - value.

We also love dice of course, and the upcoming campaign will bring some of that space magic in the palm of your hand. The Discovery full set features a selection of new and classic designs, in the same beautiful color combination from last year (a translucent starfield background, with light blue glowing paint):

  • Constellations d4 - new design following the d6, d8, and d12 you have from previous editions
  • Crescent d6 - from the Apollo edition set, featuring a prominent crescent Moon
  • Hubble d8 - new design with a selection of the main Open Clusters (e.g. the Pleiades)
  • Space Webb d10 / d100 - new design introducing galaxies to the collection
  • Moon d12 - from the Apollo edition set, where the craters display the values
  • Earth d20 - from the Apollo edition set, where smaller and bigger stars display the values

And, celebrating both Apollo and Artemis, both the Saturn V from the 60' and the new SLS-I.

All of these dice are numbered of course, just not with the standard numerals you will find elsewhere: the result is a collectors' set that will look like a full sky of stars in your hands.

The only remaining design from 2017 not yet available in the new color, the Eclipse d100 (which features regular numbers) might still be included in the full set - as a Stretch Goal.

If you missed the last campaign, this is also your chance to grab one of the few remaining full sets in the same color combinations as the new Discovery one.

Like last year, the campaign will run for just one week, with discounted early bird rewards on the first day, starting at this time tomorrow on Kickstarter. See you then!

Voyager Edition set - Director's Cut
over 2 years ago – Thu, Dec 09, 2021 at 04:23:13 AM

I have great news for you! The first Constellation Dice set, designed 5 years ago to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Voyager probes' launch, might get a final "Director's Cut" reprint in time for the 45th.

Being a limited edition, the set could be never manufactured again in the original colors (Night Black / Sky Blue with white, silver, or glowing green paint) and the factory had a very limited palette for custom dice. Things changed recently, and surprisingly they have started using new materials and techniques that would allow making the sets precisely as they were originally envisioned:

It must be added that Q-workshop doesn't allow anymore on custom dice the level of intricate detail used for the Planets d100 and Moons d10, but we have reached a special agreement in view of our long standing collaboration: if we order enough, they can make an exception and print the sets again with no amendments to the design.

An experiment: 7pcs sets at just €17 on the first day

We all know money is tight since the pandemic struck, but it is expecially after Black Friday offers, and with the holidays approaching. However, the USD/EUR exchange rate is the most convenient in years for US backers, and this could help crowdfunding.

I would like to contribute further by setting the lowest price ever for the full sets, albeit with no stretch goal freebies and a much higher funding goal than usual (to make sure the numbers are right). If enough backers chip in, you could get the best version of the Voyager Edition at the minimum cost ever. Do not miss this opportunity, get a few sets and tell your friends too :)

The new Kickstarter will be launched tomorrow (Dec. 7th, 2021) at 15:00 UTC, that is 24 hours from this e-mail, and last one week only. If it doesn't get funded, the campaign will be relaunched in January with a lower goal and regular reward prices.

See you tomorrow!

Getting There
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 14, 2019 at 10:45:42 PM

Within April, all of you should have received your rewards (the last few were sent at the turn of the month). The inclusion of dark HAL d20s didn't move the delivery schedule forward too much, and most shipments arrived in February or early March.

After the first wave reached you, it was found how a few sets had missing or duplicate dice, so everything sent afterwards was double checked in order to avoid mailing replacements around. Despite slowing down the final part of fulfillment, this additional screening of the dice ensured that everything you are receiving is of top notch quality.

At the same time, we are working to ensure an even faster and accurate fulfillment process, with dedicated staff and built-in quality assurance. It would be of great help if you could provide your general feedback. Please click here to answer a survey

What's next?

First of all, the online store for the remaining Dice Odyssey items will finally open later this week, and will be accessible also to non-backers.

Most importantly, there you will find three brand new designs, immediately available!

More info in the next update (previews are already on Facebook or Instagram).

Thanks for your support!

Hail HAL
about 5 years ago – Wed, Feb 06, 2019 at 12:09:33 AM

Our wish has been granted!

The factory was able to complete the manufacturing of the Dark HAL 20.01 right before their long New Year's holidays, and thanks to Very Priority shipping they are finally here - and look beautiful!

This took some effort and I wasn't sure until the last minute that they could do it, as six weeks from order to delivery is quite an achievement by itself, and more so near January... so I waited to get them before announcing they were ready! Surprise :)

They are currently being quality checked individually and will be included in your rewards as soon as possible. Fulfillment has been going smoothly despite some invoicing and post office hiccups that caused some delays, but a good number of envelopes was mailed, although Backerkit hasn't been updated yet.

Most of you should get your rewards in February as expected, and even backers of the Dark HAL won't have to wait a full additional month!
